GCN - New Hampshire Guv to Sign Civil Union Law"Governor John Lynch of New Hampshire, a Democrat, announced last week that he will sign the state's civil union bill, making the state the fourth to approve civil unions along with Connecticut, Vermont, and New Jersey.
Same-sex couples can marry in Massachusetts, have fairly comprehensive rights in California and Hawaii, and have limited rights in Oregon now. Same-sex couples in New York have control of partner remains and some benefits for state employees, and advocates of marriage equality for gay and lesbian couples will travel to Albany Tuesday, May 1 in a lobby day organized by the Empire State Pride Agenda. Governor Eliot Spitzer, a Democrat, supports gay marriage and pledged to enact a law to make it a reality in the Empire State.
New Hampshire's Lynch called the civil union measure "a matter of conscience, fairness, and preventing discrimination."
